ASMR's evening series explored key issues and opportunities that frequently arise in the building of biotech companies and the skill sets needed to successfully navigate these hazards. Each program assembled a panel of experts who had substantial operating experience and hands-on-expertise. Attendees heard directly from business leaders and specialists about implementing creative and reliable solutions.

6.22.04 | Financing: Tools & Tactics

"Financing: Tools & Tactics" focused on how to make the most of your resources.

Beyond the equity fund raising that all start-ups have to do, the path to success involves managing the cash and assets that you already have. Make sure you know the wealth of tools and tactics available to help you make it through your current cycle to the next. Attendees learned from a panel of successful bioentrepreneurs and financial experts what it took to optimize your financial picture. Attendees heard the pros and cons of various techniques and strategies from lease lines of credit to synthetic leases explained in non-jargon terms. Attendees discovered the best mix of tactics that could improve the financial health of their operation.

3.02.04 | Landing Corporate Deals

This program explored the anatomy of the corporate deal.

Corporate deals are increasingly necessary for both validation and survival in today's emerging bioscience sector. But, if your company has never done one how do you start? Not only do you need to know who the potential partners are but you need to be able to evaluate the best match and pursue it effectively. Attendees heard what works and what to avoid from combatants on all sides of the process. Attendees learned the basics of a good deal and some of the most current embellishments you might be faced with negotiating. Attendees discovered from this panel of experts the secrets of successful deal making and the challenges of managing the deal once it is done.

9.23.03 | From Discovery to Market: Case Studies in Neuromedicine

This program was dedicated to illuminating the process of taking a drug from discovery to market using case studies in neuromedicine. The path from initial discovery to product launch is a long and arduous one fraught with uncertainty. Attendees learned how three local companies were turning their dedication to cures in neuromedicine into viable products and exciting futures. Attendees came away inspired and informed by their creativity and resilience in building their pipelines and organizations.

4.23.03 | Downrounds

This program was dedicated to "Downrounds: Turning Survival into Success." Attendees explored the intricacies of a downround with experienced practitioners and learned what issues and choices are critical to securing a balanced investment and restoring management incentives. Attendees heard case studies and learned directly from managers who had experienced the challenges of charting a firmer path to success while renewing shareholder value.

3.05.03 | Mega Grants

This program was dedicated to "Mega Grants: building value with multi-million dollar awards." Attendees discovered the secrets of successful Mega Grant awardees and heard about experiences and challenges in producing and managing the deliverables. Attendees learned which programs offer the greatest leverage and had the best fit for their organization. Attendees found out up front about infrastructure requirements and how to meet them. And, attendees explored the benefits and challenges of partnering with academic centers and/or other firms. Attendees came away better prepared to allocate their time and resources to winning non-dilutive capital.
